What Is Hardwood Flooring?

Hardwood flooring dates back to the 1600’s and still remains one of the most popular flooring choices. Hardwood floors come in many different species of wood (the most common is oak)and two types of hardwood floors (solid, and engineered).

Solid hardwoods are made from a single piece of wood that can be refinished/resanded up to 8-10 times. Engineered hardwood is constructed from multiple layers of wood. The top layer is the finished wood species of choice while the bottom layers are cross planks from less expensive wood.

Engineered wood can be installed over a concrete subfloor while solid hardwood cannot. Hardwood floors increase your home’s value, add warmth and charm, and are a beautiful addition to any home.
